Dr. Soheil Gityforoze is an Adjunct Professor and Praxis Director at the George Washington University School of Engineering and Applied Science, where he advises doctoral candidates on applied AI/ML research and serves on dissertation defense committees. His research focuses on the application of artificial intelligence and machine learning in trading and investment management, with particular focus on reinforcement learning for systematic futures trading. His doctoral research was selected among the top 15 globally for poster presentation at the QuantMinds International Conference in London in 2023.
He currently serves as an AI/ML Expert conducting research evaluation and benchmarking of large language models (LLMs) across mathematics, data science, and software engineering tasks for leading AI research labs, in collaboration with rising tech startups including Mercor and Handshake AI. Throughout his doctoral studies at GWU, he collaborated with the GW Investment Institute developing machine learning models for quantitative portfolio research. He has also held a leadership role in robotics operations and analytics at Amazon. Earlier in his academic career he served as a Teaching Assistant at Harvard University.
Professor Gityforoze holds a Doctor of Engineering (D.Eng.) in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning from GWU, a Master of Science with coursework in machine learning and financial mathematics from Columbia University, and a Master’s degree in Finance from Harvard University, complemented by an MBA from Oxford Brookes University and a Doctorate in Public Administration (DPA) from the University of La Verne. He is a member of Harvard Alumni in Tech and the Harvard Club of New York City AI Group.
