Dr Max Alexander is a cybersecurity executive, researcher, and educator with more than two decades of experience spanning the U.S. Intelligence Community, Department of Defence, and private sector financial services. He currently serves as Head of Cyber Technology and Emerging Threats Research at JPMorgan Chase & Co., where he leads efforts to educate clients on cyber resilience, emerging threats, and technology risk.
Prior to joining JPMorgan Chase, Dr Alexander served as Chief Technology Officer at Aveshka, Inc., where he led responses to advanced persistent threat (APT) intrusions and helped establish insider threat programs for the Pentagon and the White House. His government service includes 23 years in the U.S. Intelligence Community, where he held operational and leadership roles supporting special operations, counterintelligence, and technical surveillance countermeasures, including serving as Program Director for Technical Surveillance and Countermeasures at the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.
At the George Washington University, Dr Alexander serves as a doctoral advisor in cybersecurity and engineering programs. His academic work focuses on artificial intelligence applications in cybersecurity analytics, including fraud detection, machine learning, and adversarial threat modelling.
Dr Alexander’s research interests centre on fraud detection, malware analysis, cyber resilience, denial and deception in warfare, and the intersection of artificial intelligence and intelligence analysis. He is the developer of the MIRAGE Framework (Multi-Indicator Research and Assessment for Generational Deception Evaluation), a structured analytic model designed to improve the detection of deception across both historical and modern conflict environments.
He holds a Doctor of Engineering in Cybersecurity Analytics, a Master of Engineering in Cybersecurity Policy and Compliance from George Washington University, and a Master of Science in Strategic Intelligence from the National Intelligence University. He is a Chartered Engineer (CEng), an International Professional Engineer (IntPE), and a member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (MIET).
