Dr. Dinma Ruth Akor is an Academic Advisor for the Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning D.Eng Program at The George Washington University (GWU). She brings a decade of experience designing, deploying, and operating large-scale machine learning systems in fintech and regulated financial environments, with a specialization in fraud detection, risk modeling, and ML infrastructure.

In her industry role, Dr. Akor is a Senior Manager at American Express in New York, where she leads the design and deployment of high-impact strategies for fraud detection across banking products. Her work focuses on building ML models, integrating advanced analytics with real-time decision systems, improving risk assessment, and preventing financial losses. She has held machine learning, data science, and analytics leadership roles across the public and private sectors, including the International Monetary Fund, the United Nations, PYXERA Global, and the Office of the Minister of Finance, Nigeria.

Her research interests span Agentic AI, Generative AI, and Applied AI, with a focus on their application to financial data, fraud detection, financial inclusion, economic development, and real-world ML systems.

Dr. Akor holds a Doctor of Engineering in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning from The George Washington University, a Master of Science in Applied Economics and Data Science from GWU, and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria.
